Japan Implements New Rules for Mobile Data Pricing

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has announced new rules governing the pricing of data plans for smartphones by all three major carriers within Japan (NTT DoComo, KDDI, Softbank) to take effect in 2016. Japan Deploying Free WiFi for the Olympics

Beginning in Summer 2014, Tokyo and Chiba prefectures will be begin to deploy Wi-Fi hotspots to offer free wireless Internet for tourists as part of preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
