The Cloud does not respect borders. Data sharing between the two countries can be an important catalyst for economic growth and greater economic interdependence, but it can also cause tensions if managed poorly. What are the points of convergence and difference in the government policies toward the promotion of the Cloud and Big Data in Japan and Korea? Is there an opportunity for greater cross-border cooperation and, if so, how might it be structured?


Yasuhiko Taniwaki, Deputy Director-General, Information and Communications Bureau, MIC, joined the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (currently MIC) in 1984. Before assuming his current position he served in the ICCP Division of the OECD (1987-1989), and as Deputy-Director of the Telecommunications Policy Division (1993-1997).
