US-Japan Internet Economy Industry Forum (October 22, 2013)

The US-Japan Internet Economy Industry Forum met October 22, 2013 to review and release a report providing recommendations to the Japanese and US governments on steps to promote greater utilization of cloud computing and strengthen Japan-US cooperation on the Internet in Asia.

Key proposals included measures to maintain a open and transparent Internet, to harmonize cross-border data flow rules, to promote cooperation between the US and Japan Chief Information Officers (CIO), to achieve a safe environment on the Internet and to accelerate global cloud enterprise.  The two governments will take up these recommendations when they meet for the fifth session of the US-Japan Internet Economy early in 2014.

KICIS Director Professor Jim Foster serves as a senior advisor to the group.
